A draft of the bill of sale of the ship 'Syden' (formerly the 'General Wood') from John Burd to James Matheson, Henry Wright, Alexander Matheson and Andrew Jardine, May 1841, with an accompanying document in Danish by James Matheson, His Danish Majesty's Consul in China, Macao, 1 March 1841.

There is a letter in Danish from the Royal Danish Government, Castle Dansborg, Tranquebar, to James Matheson, Danish Consul, Canton, 24 August 1820, with a note in English on the reverse describing the document as 'announcing my appointment as acting Consul' and recording its receipt on 30 January 1821.
